We start our tour in the foyer of Radio City which is just inside the Maternity Wing of Singleton Hospital. |
| Before we enter the studio take a quick glance up to your left. | ![]() |

Upon entering the studios reception room you are greeted by artwork flanking a collage of photos from Radio City's past. Complete with some very very comfy chairs. |
| On
your immediate right you will see the reception desk with the notice board
behind it.
Now dont forget to sign in before we enter the rest of the station. |

| Now that you have signed in we can move through the door on the right into Studio One. | |
| This is used for production purposes and interviews, split into two rooms an interview can take place in the sound proofed booth while a presenter can construct a programme using the SoundBox programme on one of the two computers. | |
| Before we move onto the Record Library and Server room just pop you head into the Interview booth. So far this room has been used for a number of interviews a short recording session with a local artist and the first broadcast from this studio was Hywel Benjamin with the Wednesday night Requestline. | |
| Across the reception room we have the nerve centre of Radio City, this is where all the Records that have been collected since the station first opened in 1968, and the later cds of which we utilise both. If you look into the far corner you will spot a metal tower with wires hanging out of it, this is the Server/Amplifier stand and holds, the computer server which links all the computers in the station together so that they can all make use of the vast collection of music that we are now building up on computer, and holds the amplifiers that boost the sound and send it through cabling in the hospital to your bedside. (to the grey headphones plugged into the wall next to your bed) | ![]() |
| From
here its a quick jump across the reception to Studio Two which is the main
broadcast studio for the station, any live shows you hear come from this
room.
Please take note of the sign on the door! |
|
| Luckily
the presenter is in the middle of a song so we can enter without
disturbing their show, as soon as you look through the door you can see
the main mixing desk (big grey thing in the middle of the table) from here
the presenter can control everything that you hear so if its too loud they
have the fader to high.
But shhhhhhhh looks like they are about to go back on air! |

If you move round the desk you can get a better view of the mixer and a glimpse at the computer which like the other two you saw earlier is used for SoundBox. |
| Well I hope you have enjoyed your visit to the Radio City Studios and will come again soon, but I have to go up to the wards to collect some requests for the Requestline show this evening so don't forget to sign out as you leave. | |
